The Middle of the Trip

We have hit the halfway point in our journey.  Today is pretty much the middle point in our trip, at least as far as the date goes, and it is a fitting day to arrive in Phoenix.  It was a day filled with typical travel frustrations that passed with little conflict or impact (we're getting lots of practice at adapting to ever changing schedules after a month of traveling).

We overslept, under planned our time for the morning, left a half an hour late but made great time in traffic and still arrived at the airport our typical 2 hours before the flight.  The flight was delayed, suitcase arrived already opened, reservation was mixed up at the rental car place yet we arrived at the hotel just 5 minutes after check-in began for the day.  We headed out for our first meet up of the day to find ourselves alone at the restaurant due to a mis-recorded calendar date so we grabbed a delicious  quick meal alone and heading out for some time with my parents.  We left there to get ready for our second meet up of the day which was cancelled just as we arrived back at the hotel so we tossed a book and a couple of games in our bag and headed over to Papago and ran in to some old friends (and made a few new ones).

All in all, I think it was the near perfect day despite of, or perhaps because of, all of the little 'inconveniences' that travel can bring.
